Job description

At Toyota of Olympia, we believe something simple:

Cars can be replaced. People cannot.

Every vehicle we sell will eventually be traded, every part can be reordered, and every building can be remodeled. But the relationships we build with our customers and our employees are irreplaceable—and those relationships are what have made Toyota of Olympia one of the most respected dealerships in the Pacific Northwest.

We're in the people business first. We just happen to sell and service vehicles.

Our mission is to create an experience that customers remember long after they drive off the lot. We don't measure success by a single transaction—we measure it by earning customers for life. That means treating every customer with honesty, respect, professionalism, and genuine care.

We believe the same philosophy applies to our employees.

When you join Toyota of Olympia, you're not just accepting a job—you're joining a team that is committed to helping you grow personally and professionally. We invest in training, encourage new ideas, celebrate success, and promote from within whenever possible. We work hard, hold ourselves to a high standard, and genuinely enjoy what we do.

We're looking for people who take pride in their work, believe in doing the right thing even when no one is watching, and understand that exceptional customer experiences are created by exceptional people.

If you're looking for a place where your work matters, where your teammates have your back, where leadership is invested in your success, and where you can build a long-term career—not just collect a paycheck—we'd love to meet you.

Toyota of Olympia
Driven by People. Built on Relationships.

Toyota of Olympia
Facilities Maintenance Technician
Position Expectations

The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for our customers and employees. While this position does not require skilled trade certifications, it does require a high level of ownership, initiative, organization, and follow-through.

The expectation is to manage the facility—not simply complete assigned tasks.

Take Ownership

The best Facilities Maintenance Technician does not wait to be told what needs to be done.

Instead, they are constantly walking the property, looking for opportunities to improve the appearance, safety, and functionality of the dealership.

  • Chipped paint
  • Burned-out lights
  • Pressure washing needs
  • Broken furniture or fixtures
  • Signage issues
  • Organization of storage areas
  • Exterior appearance
  • Parking lot concerns
Be Self-Motivated

There should always be productive work available.

When one project is complete:

  • Walk the property.
  • Update your project list.
  • Begin the next task.
  • Look for opportunities to improve the dealership.

Downtime should be extremely limited.

Maintain a Facility Calendar

Maintain a master calendar of all Weekly, Monthly, and Annual recurring inspections, maintenance, vendor services, and expiration dates.

The expectation is that these items are completed before they become overdue without requiring reminders from management.

Project Management

Facility improvements are more than scheduling a vendor.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is expected to manage projects from beginning to end.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify the need.
  • Obtain at least three competitive bids when appropriate.
  • Present recommendations and bids to the GM.
  • Schedule approved work.
  • Communicate project timing with affected departments.
  • Inspect completed work.
  • Ensure deficiencies are corrected.
  • Close out the project with all documentation.

Proper communication throughout any project to the Department Head is vital.

Ownership does not end when the vendor leaves.

Organization

Maintain organized records for:

  • Inspection reports
  • Annual certifications
  • Quotes and bids
  • Project status
  • Warranty information
  • Facility improvement ideas

Information should be easy to locate when needed.

Professional Standards

Take pride in the appearance of Toyota of Olympia.

Treat the facility as if it were your own business.

Pay attention to details.

Complete projects thoroughly.

Clean up after every project.

Represent the dealership professionally when interacting with vendors.

Success in This Position

Success is measured not by the number of work orders completed, but by the overall condition of the facility.

A successful Facilities Maintenance Technician:

  • Takes initiative.
  • Solves problems before they become issues.
  • Keeps the dealership looking exceptional.
  • Manages recurring inspections without reminders.
  • Coordinates vendors professionally.
  • Takes pride in ownership of the facility.

The expectation is to become the person who knows the building better than anyone else and ensures that Toyota of Olympia always presents a safe, clean, organized, and first-class environment for our customers and employees.
