The Pastorate of St. Gabriel in Windsor Mill, MD and St. Charles Borromeo in Pikesville, MD, seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Facilities Maintenance Technician. Reporting to the Pastor and Pastorate Operations Manager, this position will oversee the maintenance of the facilities at both parishes and strive to maintain clean and welcoming campuses. This includes the primary fields of electrical; heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC); carpentry, plumbing, etc.
Essential Functions:
- Inspects the parish campuses and advises the Pastor about necessary repairs and maintenance issues; performs basic and routine maintenance, construction, and repair tasks according to service, quality, and safety standards.
- Assist with miscellaneous facility projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, installation of fixtures and moving furniture or materials within the facilities.
- When professional service is required, makes arrangements and supervises the work of the contractor/vendor
- Ensures that facilities are secure and locked when not in use, monitors alarms from the security and fire protection systems, and keeps all safety devices and systems in proper operating order
- Directs the set-up of rooms, equipment, tables, chairs, and cleaning for approved parish functions and prepares the churches for worship before weekends; coordinates weekly custodial tasks to keep our indoor spaces clean and sanitized
Position Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Some experience with Facilities and Grounds maintenance is preferred
- Demonstrates a knowledge of, and experience in, maintenance and minor repair work in the fields of carpentry, electrical work, painting and minor drywall repair, plumbing, sanitation, mechanics, and janitorial care
- Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with other staff members, volunteers, church groups, and parishioners as a team
- Must be able to move office furniture and other items weighing up to 25 pounds, and to move items of heavier weight with the use of assistive equipment. Must be able to move about within very tight spaces where large and potentially dangerous equipment is stored; to safely operate various types of manual and power tools and automated systems; and to ascend/descend a ladder as needed.
