Job summary

Jacintoport International in Houston, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service the facility's rotating equipment, conveyors, and electrical/mechanical systems. The role requires hands-on experience, the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and a strong safety mindset.

Starting rate is $26 per hour with long-term employment and growth opportunities. Applicants should have at least two years of maintenance experience, English proficiency, and a trade certificate related to HVAC

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of hands-on maintenance experience in areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.
  • Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers.
  • Certificate in trade skills related to HVAC, electricity, industrial repairs, etc.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Intermediate communication skills to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance on rotating equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, alignment and new mechanical installations.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and repair all electronic AC and DC variable equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on electrical controls and mechanical equipment.
  • Weld equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.
  • Operate heavy equipment to perform maintenance jobs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for performing maintenance for the entire facility. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of two (2) years of hands‑on maintenance experience in areas such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.
  • Experience and ability to use common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers.
  • Certificate in trade skills related to HVAC, electricity, industrial repairs, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
  • Perform all functions in accordance with operating and safety guidelines.
  • Perform maintenance on rotating equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, alignment and new mechanical installations.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze and repair all electronic AC and DC variable equipment.
  • Perform maintenance on electrical controls and mechanical equipment.
  • Weld equipment, conveyors, gearboxes, etc.
  • Operate heavy equipment to perform maintenance jobs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards, with awareness of surroundings.
Secondary
  • Special projects for the Department Manager.
  • Perform other functions as assigned.
Physical Requirements
  • Subject to physical and/or DOT screening including other tests as applicable.
  • Must frequently carry, push and pull up to 100lbs.; occasionally lift 100lbs.
  • Must frequently grasp, perform repetitive wrist and foot motions, and exercise finger dexterity.
  • Must continuously talk and hear.
  • Must frequently sit, stand and walk.
  • Must frequently climb, forward bend, squat, twist, and reach overhead.
  • Must occasionally exercise eye‑hand‑foot coordination.
  • Must occasionally kneel and crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Safety Requirements
  • Report safety hazards.
  • Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by the immediate supervisor.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Refuse any unsafe task or operation.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Be constantly aware of personal safety and that of coworkers.
Supervision Received and Exercised

Receives direct supervision from the Terminal Maintenance Supervisor and does not exercise supervision over any other position.

Conditions
  • Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind, and high humidity during day and night shifts.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to dust, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
  • Moderate vibration through hands when using power tools and throughout the body when operating power industrial equipment.
