Job summary

Bland County Nursing & Rehab Center in Grapefield, VA, seeks a Maintenance Assistant to perform repairs and preventative maintenance across building, grounds and equipment, reporting to the Director of Maintenance. The role requires flexibility for on-call and after-hours support.

You will handle carpentry, electrical and HVAC tasks, respond to emergencies, and maintain safety and cleanliness in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Must have basic mechanical and repair abilities.
• Ability to read instructions and manuals for equipment.
• Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and preventative maintenance for building, grounds and equipment.
• Maintain and repair building systems including electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
• Assist with seasonal projects and on-call coverage.
• Respond to emergencies and safety concerns promptly.
• Document maintenance activities and report observations.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

1–5 years maintenance experience
