Job summary

Ohio State University is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform daily inspections, execute preventive maintenance, and repair building systems across campus facilities. The role requires teamwork with other trades and proactive communication with customers and supervisors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience in general maintenance.
  • OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period.
  • Demonstrated competence in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R during the probationary period.
  • May require a valid State of Ohio driver license.

  • Perform daily building inspections.

Minimum Classification Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience in general maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Obtain a valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period.
  • Demonstrated competence in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R during the probationary period.
  • May require a valid State of Ohio driver license.
Desired Qualifications
  • Associate or technical degree or certificate in a skilled trades/maintenance related field.
  • Basic understanding of university building design standards (BDS) related to maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the capital project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to push and pull 70 lbs., distinguish colors, and climb ladders.
Unusual Work Conditions
  • May work in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for extended periods.
  • May be required to work in cramped spaces.

Location: James Outpatient Care (1043)

Position Type: Regular

Scheduled Hours: 40 per week

Shift: Third Shift
