Facilities Maintenance Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily building inspections.
- Complete preventive maintenance and repairs.
- Install and maintain building equipment and fixtures.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations.
- Follow safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain clean work areas and equipment.
- Complete work orders and other required documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Operate a department vehicle.
- Assist other trades and perform additional duties as assigned.
- Participate in professional development, continuing education, and meetings.
Minimum Classification Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years’ experience in general maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Obtain a valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card within the probationary period.
- Demonstrated competence in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC/R during the probationary period.
- May require a valid State of Ohio driver license.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or technical degree or certificate in a skilled trades/maintenance related field.
- Basic understanding of university building design standards (BDS) related to maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
- Basic understanding of the capital project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to push and pull 70 lbs., distinguish colors, and climb ladders.
Unusual Work Conditions
- May work in hot, cold, dusty, or dirty environments for extended periods.
- May be required to work in cramped spaces.
