Job summary

OPW Global in Cleveland, OH, is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to safeguard the reliability of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related infrastructure. You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, coordinate with external vendors, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 2-year technical training in HVAC/electrical/plumbing/carpentry.
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work 8-hour shifts with overtime as required.
  • Proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain safe, compliant building environment and facilities operations.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and roofing.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and diagrams.

Role Overview – Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Facilities Maintenance Technician is tasked with maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the continuous operation of all building infrastructure, utilities, and grounds. This includes HVAC systems, air compressors, electrical infrastructure, plumbing, structural components, custodial oversight, and the procurement and assistance with external service contracts.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and regulatory‑compliant building environment.
  • Ensure restrooms, offices, and common areas meet cleanliness standards.
  • Support daily operations to ensure continuous facility uptime.
  • Engage with building infrastructure projects and utility tasks.
  • Source, evaluate, and secure vendor contracts for groundskeeping and landscaping.
  • Manage third‑party contractors for lawn care, snow removal, and exterior upkeep.
  • Monitor vendor performance against service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Coordinate on‑site visits for external maintenance and facility service providers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on building infrastructure assets.
  • Service HVAC systems, air compressors, and air dryers.
  • Repair facility lighting, automatic doors, and roofing systems.
  • Maintain office areas, restrooms, and lab structures.
  • Execute general plumbing, carpentry, and structural repairs.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, and multi‑meters.
  • Diagnose breakdowns of building water and air supply systems.
  • Troubleshoot facility high‑voltage and low‑voltage electrical distribution.
  • Read building layout plans, facility blueprints, and structural sketches.
  • Interpret operating manuals, electrical schematics, and plumbing diagrams.
  • Ensure strict adherence to critical facility work rules.
  • Utilize proper Arc Flash PPE for building electrical systems work.
  • Maintain facility adherence to local building and safety codes.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and communicate effectively at all levels.
Required Skills
  • Electrical experience – 480VAC & 120VAC, 120VAC–24VDC.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining building infrastructure assets (HVAC, air compressors/driers, fans, lighting, doors, roofing, offices, restrooms, lab structures) with hands‑on or vendor/contractor coordination.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written) with operators, team leads, managers, engineers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Proficiency in English comprehension and expression.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals) and reading, writing, and computational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with high quality and reliability.
Education / Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and 2‑year completion of technical or community college in HVAC repair, electrical systems, plumbing, and/or carpentry.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work 8‑hour shifts and overtime as required.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CMMS.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and facilitation skills.
  • Physical ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand, bend, push, pull, climb, and work in weather extremes.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE.
