Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Facilities Mechanic I in Cheyenne, WY to support operation, maintenance, and repair of critical mechanical infrastructure in an HPC/data center environment. You’ll work with HVAC, BAS, chillers, pumps, and related systems to ensure 24x7 uptime.

Responsibilities include preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-call support, while following safety procedures and documenting work orders. Valid active driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Must have HVAC troubleshooting experience and ability to read blueprints/schematics.
• Proficient with MS Office and CMMS software.
• Licensure in HVAC trade or Journeyman level is required or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment.
• Maintain and repair chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, AHUs, compressors, and related systems.
• Monitor and operate Building Automation Systems (BAS), primarily Metasys by Johnson Controls.
• Troubleshoot facility mechanical and control system issues.
• Respond to alarms, outages, and emergency maintenance situations.
• Review system trends to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
• Complete work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and facility projects.
• Follow safety procedures including LOTO, confined space, fall protection, and hot work.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as required.

Description

The Facilities Mechanic I is responsible for supporting the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical mechanical infrastructure within a high-performance computing (HPC) and data center environment. This role ensures reliable operation of HVAC, cooling, building automation, and facility systems supporting mission-critical 24x7 operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical equipment.
• Maintain and repair chillers, cooling towers, pumps, boilers, heat exchangers, air handling units, compressors, and related systems.
• Monitor and operate Building Automation Systems (BAS), primarily Johnson Controls Metasys.
• Troubleshoot facility mechanical and control system issues.
• Respond to alarms, outages, and emergency maintenance situations.
• Review system trends and operational data to optimize performance.
• Complete work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and facility projects.
• Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, fall protection, and hot work requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support activities as required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• HVAC Trade School Certification, Journeyman HVAC/Pipefitter License, or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of commercial, industrial, data center, or facilities maintenance experience.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
• Experience using Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred

• Johnson Controls Metasys experience.
• Data Center or Critical Facilities experience.
• EPA 608 Certification.
• NATE Certification.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
• BACnet and DDC Controls experience.
• Wyoming Limited Electrical Technician License.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Cheyenne, WY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
