Job summary

Guardian Glass in Carleton, MI is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep buildings, equipment, and grounds safe, clean, and fully operational through preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.

You will troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, perform painting and general maintenance, and coordinate with contractors as needed. The role operates on a day shift, typically Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial, construction, manufacturing, or related fields.
• Experience with hand tools and power tools.
• HVAC preventative maintenance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators) for safety and efficiency.
• Repair minor electrical issues, plumbing, drywall, painting, lighting, and furniture.
• Perform general cleaning, floor maintenance, and trash removal, especially during events.
• Ensure work complies with EH&S Performance Standards.
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs.

Your Job

Our Guardian Glass facility, in Carleton, MI, is hiring for a Facilities Maintenance Technician!

Responsible for ensuring buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, clean, and fully operational through preventive maintenance, inspections, and repair activities. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as performing painting, cleaning, and general maintenance tasks. The role requires strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve facility-related issues efficiently. This individual will work independently throughout the day and collaborate with external contractors as needed to support maintenance projects and facility improvements.

The position is a day shift role, typically working Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, generators) to ensure safety and efficiency
• Fix minor electrical issues, plumbing, drywall, painting, lighting, and furniture repairs
• Perform general cleaning, floor maintenance, and trash removal, particularly during events
• Ensure work is compliant with all EH&S Performance Standards
• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs

Employees may be assigned to various departments throughout the facility. Following is a list ofphysical and environmental demands for these departments:

• Work in a hot, humid, dusty, and cold environment
• Perform work in an outdoor environment, exposing one to the elements
• Perform tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., walking, stooping, standing, repetitively pushing and/or pulling
• Climb stairs and work on roofs

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Experience working in industrial, construction, manufacturing, or relevant fields
• Experience with hand tools and power tools

What Will Put You Ahead

• Understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and building mechanics.
• HVAC Preventative Maintenance experience (filter change, coil cleaning)
• 5 or more years’ of experience working in an industrial setting
• Experience with general site safety
• Experience directing and managing sub-contractors
• OSHA Certification
