Job summary

Job description

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will support daily maintenance, repair, and operation of SystImmune's laboratory, office, and critical facility infrastructure. This role supports a fast-paced biopharmaceutical R&D environment, including laboratories, equipment rooms, utility systems, and general building systems.

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and comfortable working in a highly regulated laboratory environment. This position requires hands-on maintenance work, vendor coordination, accurate documentation, and strong customer service to internal teams. The role will support after-hours work, on-call rotation, emergency response, and shutdown activities as needed.

This is a full-time onsite position at our Bothell, WA location.

Responsibilities
1. Facility Maintenance & Work Order Support
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facility systems, laboratory support equipment, and general building infrastructure.
  • Use the company's CMMS system to receive, complete, and document maintenance work orders.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed in electronic and written form.
  • Respond to facility-related service requests in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, replacing filters, inspecting drives and motors, tightening hardware, and verifying proper equipment operation.
2. Building Systems & Troubleshooting
  • Support maintenance of HVAC systems, exhaust systems, plumbing systems, pumps, valves, motors, fans, belts, filters, lighting, electrical components, and other MEP systems.
  • Conduct routine facility rounds and inspections of critical building systems, lab support systems, and utility spaces.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and equipment issues using drawings, manuals, schematics, parts lists, and troubleshooting tools.
  • Inspect, operate, test, and repair machinery or equipment to identify and correct malfunctions.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, P&IDs, floor plans, wiring diagrams, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
3. Laboratory, Critical Systems & Compliance Support
  • Support laboratory and critical equipment for the building
  • Support critical temperature units, including refrigerators, freezers, ultra-low temperature freezers, cold rooms, and related monitoring systems.
  • Assist with facilities work related to compressed gases, LN2, CO2, O2, argon, and other laboratory utility systems.
  • Support maintenance and inspection activities related to clean, safe, and compliant laboratory operations.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and perform all work in a safe and compliant manner.
4. Vendor Coordination, Facility Support & Emergency Response
  • Escort and coordinate vendors and contractors performing preventive maintenance, calibration, repair, testing, or construction activities.
  • Report equipment failures, safety concerns, or facility issues promptly to management.
  • Assist with equipment moves, lab relocations, furniture moves, and general facility setup activities.
  • Maintain mechanical spaces, utility rooms, storage areas, and maintenance work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Participate in annual shutdowns, after-hours maintenance, emergency response, and on-call rotation as required
  • Interact professionally with employees, vendors, contractors, and visitors at all levels of the organization.
Qualifications
Education
  • Trade school, technical certification, apprenticeship, or associate degree in a related field preferred.
  • Trade license, certification, or training in HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, boiler operation, wastewater, or related field is a plus.
  • A WA state driver's license is required.
Experience
  • 5+ years of facilities maintenance, building maintenance, laboratory maintenance, manufacturing maintenance, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, laboratory, healthcare, cleanroom, GMP, GLP, or regulated environment preferred.
  • Experience coordinating outside vendors and contractors.
  • Experience working around hazardous materials or in laboratory environments is a plus.
Technical Expertise
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, test equipment, ladders, lifts, carts, and other maintenance equipment safely.
  • Ability to read and follow SOPs, work instructions, equipment manuals, drawings, and safety procedures.
  • Experience using a CMMS system to manage and document maintenance work orders.
  • Experience supporting laboratory equipment, critical utilities, research facility operations, HVAC, BAS/EMS, compressed gases, cold storage, plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with regulated documentation practices and quality systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00 hourly. Actual compensation will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s level qualifications, experience, and skills.

While most offers typically fall within the low to mid-point of the range, we may extend an offer toward the higher end for exceptional candidates whose background and expertise exceeds the requirements of the role.
