Job Description
The Zone Maintenance Shop performs daily inspections, general maintenance and repairs of assigned buildings and equipment. The Zone Maintenance Shop also coordinates projects performed in assigned buildings. This title is covered under the current Agreement between The Ohio State University and Communication Workers of America Local 4501.
Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call.
Will require the successful completion of a criminal background check and motor vehicle review; may require employee health evaluation and vaccinations.
Under the general supervision of a senior technician or supervisor, the facilities maintenance technician performs intermediate tasks related to day-to-day inspections, preventative maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Functions will include but are not limited to:
Assists other trades as needed; adheres to all safety practices and procedures; cleans and maintains work areas and equipment; attends meetings; properly completes documentation; provides a high level of customer service; communicates to customers, coworkers and supervision via written, electronic and verbal methods and devices; operates department vehicle; performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education Required
HS Graduate or Equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications
Required: Per CCS specifications; High school diploma/GED with two years’ experience in general maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience; valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health card; at the time of entry into this position, demonstrates competency in each of the identified technical specialties as required for this position’s level of responsibility: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC/R or equivalent combination of education and experience.
