Job summary

Makena Golf & Beach Club in Maui, HI seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician II to join the Facilities Department. The role maintains pool/spa, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, roofing, and related systems, ensuring high-quality club operations for members and staff.

Responsibilities include executing routine maintenance, completing projects, coordinating with departments, and keeping areas clean and safe. Flexible hours and a team-oriented environment are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
• 1+ years hands-on experience with HVAC and electrical equipment or equivalent training.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Proficiency with general maintenance and basic tools (painting, sanding, basic electric).
• Plumbing knowledge for leaks/drains; electrical wiring for building systems; basic carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily/weekly maintenance for pool and spa operations.
• Complete facilities projects including electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, and painting.
• Communicate task impacts to relevant departments.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas and comply with safety rules.
• Install or repair small fixtures; patch walls and ceilings; trim windows/doors as needed.
• Paint and stain surfaces; address exterior maintenance and landscape irrigation.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Makena Golf & Beach Club, set on Maui, HI.

Makena is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician II to join the Facilities Department.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician maintains all building equipment in good working condition, including pool/spa, HVAC, plumbing and electrical; lighting and climate control systems; roofing systems; ground support equipment, and maintenance/cleaning equipment. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

• Completes daily/weekly maintenance activities for the club pool and spa.
• Complete projects as assigned by Facilities Maintenance Manager including electrical, mechanical, basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and general maintenance for club operations.
• Communicate information related to tasks and projects that will impact service within a specific department.
• Keep work areas neat, and organized and clean up job sites appropriately.
• Follow safe work practices.
• Follow project policies.
• Constructs install or assemble small, prefabricated furniture items such as shelving, marker or bulletin boards, and similar items. Installs demolishes and repairs partition walls, suspended acoustical ceilings, and window and wall trim on a limited scale.
• Paints and stains surface as necessary. Performs minor repairs to exterior areas such as parking lots, walls, windows, and landscape irrigation systems.
• Installs signage as directed.
• Clears roof surfaces of accumulated debris. Clears roof drainage system of visible items that may cause blockage, and tests drain for proper operation, if possible.
• Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited technical school or apprenticeship, preferred.
• 1+ years hands-on experience with HVAC and electrical equipment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a valid Drivers License.
• Proficiency in general maintenance and use of hand tools, including painting, sanding, basic electric, and snow removal.
• Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems.
• Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity.
• Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building.

• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (60) pounds.
