Job summary

Roanoke County is seeking a skilled maintenance worker to perform a variety of tasks across building, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting. The role supports daily operations at the Regional Center for Animal Care and Protection and requires coordination with contractors as needed.

Applicants should have at least five years in maintenance or equivalent experience, with a high school diploma and trade/tech training in electricity and HVAC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with trade/tech courses in electricity and HVAC, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of maintenance experience in building systems or related field.
• Valid Virginia driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance: mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Repair or replace mechanical, plumbing, electrical components and devices.
• Install/repair doors, windows, trim and locks; maintain interior and exterior finishes.
• Maintain monthly work logs and assist with safety meetings.
• Supervise volunteers and county inmates as needed.
• Provide quality customer service and operate within animal care facility needs.
