Job summary

Farbman Group is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee daily building and facility maintenance across properties in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. This on-site role collaborates with property management, tenants, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient operations and high tenant satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in building systems maintenance, including basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repair.
• Experience supervising maintenance teams or contractors, including task delegation, scheduling, and performance oversight.
• Ability to manage work orders, prioritize multiple tasks, and ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Knowledge of safety practices, building codes, and regulatory requirements relevant to commercial and/or residential properties.
• Proficiency in using maintenance software, mobile applications, and basic computer tools (email, spreadsheets, reports).
• Effective communication and customer service skills for interacting with tenants, vendors, and internal teams in a professional manner.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to be hands-on with technical and physical tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in a building trade (e.g., HVAC, electrical) is preferred.
• Ability to work on-site in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
• Previous experience in property or facilities maintenance, particularly in real estate or commercial buildings, is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily building and facility maintenance operations across properties.
• Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance and respond to service requests.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues.
• Schedule, direct, and evaluate maintenance staff and vendors, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
• Maintain inventories of supplies, monitor building systems, assist with inspections, and support improvement projects.
• Ensure safety, compliance with company standards and local regulations, and tenant satisfaction.
