Job description

Injector Remanufacturing & Aftermarket Pump Manufacturing
Position Summary

The Maintenance & Facilities Manager is responsible for maximizing production equipment uptime and ensuring the plant's equipment, utilities, facility, and infrastructure are safe, reliable, and capable of supporting continuous manufacturing operations.

This role leads the plant maintenance and facilities organization with a strong focus on preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment reliability, rapid breakdown response, root-cause problem-solving, critical spare parts, and facility/utilities management.

The successful candidate will build and lead a proactive, reliability-focused maintenance organization—not a reactive repair organization. The primary objective is to prevent equipment failures, reduce unplanned downtime, and ensure production assets are available when Operations needs them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own overall equipment uptime, availability, and reliability for plant production assets.
  • Establish and drive equipment uptime, MTBF, MTTR, downtime reduction, and maintenance performance targets.
  • Review equipment downtime and recurring failures, lead root-cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead the plant preventive and predictive maintenance program, ensuring PMs are completed on time, performed effectively, and adjusted based on equipment history and risk.
  • Maintain accurate equipment history and maintenance activity through the plant CMMS/maintenance system.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable maintenance technicians and facilities personnel, including skills development and cross-training.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance support across production shifts and rapid response to critical equipment failures.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other functions to improve equipment capability, throughput, PPH, quality, and production performance.
  • Develop and maintain a critical spare-parts strategy for production equipment, controls, utilities, and facility systems.
  • Own plant facility and infrastructure reliability, including electrical distribution, HVAC, compressed air, water/plumbing, ventilation, fire protection, life-safety systems, security, building systems, and grounds.
  • Identify equipment, utility, and infrastructure risks that could interrupt production and develop appropriate preventive, contingency, spare-parts, or capital plans.
  • Manage outside contractors and service providers while ensuring compliance with plant safety and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Support maintenance and reliability of manufacturing equipment including:
    • Injector assembly/disassembly and cleaning equipment
    • Injector calibration and test stands
    • Fuel pump manufacturing, assembly, and performance testing
    • CNC machining and precision grinding equipment
    • Automated assembly systems
    • Leak and flow testing equipment
    • Material-handling equipment and plant utilities
  • Develop annual maintenance and facilities capital plans, including equipment rebuilds, replacements, upgrades, and facility improvements.
  • Participate in the specification, installation, commissioning, and launch of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance and facilities activities comply with all company safety requirements, machine guarding standards, LOTO requirements, and applicable facility/life-safety regulations.

The original description specifically identifies injector remanufacturing, fuel-pump manufacturing, CNC machining, precision grinding, automated assembly, and leak/flow testing as equipment this person will support, so I would definitely keep those details. They will help attract candidates from the right manufacturing environments.

Key Performance Indicators

Success in this role will be measured through:

  • Equipment uptime and availability
  • Reduction in unplanned downtime
  • MTBF and MTTR
  • Repeat-failure elimination
  • Preventive maintenance completion
  • Planned vs. reactive maintenance
  • Maintenance backlog and corrective-action closure
  • Facility and utility reliability
  • Production performance related to equipment availability
  • Maintenance, facilities, contractor, and spare-parts spending
  • Safety and compliance performance

The original document sets an expectation of 100% on-time PM completion, which I would retain because it makes the reliability expectations of the position very clear.

Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous maintenance leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated success improving manufacturing equipment reliability and reducing downtime.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience developing and managing preventive maintenance programs.
  • Working knowledge of industrial facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
  • Strong root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead maintenance resources in a fast-paced production environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical or engineering degree, industrial maintenance certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in automotive, fuel systems, machining, precision manufacturing, or remanufacturing.
  • Experience maintaining CNC equipment, automated assembly systems, and test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs and industrial controls.
  • Experience with HVAC, compressed air, industrial electrical systems, and other plant utilities.
  • CMMS experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and continuous-improvement experience.
  • Capital project and contractor-management experience.
