Job summary

Edwards Vacuum in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Leader to oversee preventative and periodic maintenance, ensuring safety, uptime, and environmental compliance at the new greenfield dry pump manufacturing site.

You will lead a maintenance team, manage preventive, predictive, and corrective programs via CMMS, coordinate with engineering, production, EHS, and contractors, and drive continuous improvement and energy-efficiency initiatives.

Qualifications

• 10 years' experience in plant maintenance with 5 years' experience managing a facility maintenance team.
• Experience leading maintenance teams in manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, HVAC and building utilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate, and develop the Facilities Maintenance team.
• Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Ensure safe operation of electrical, HVAC, and other building systems.
• Manage contractors and vendors; define scopes & monitor performance.

The Facilities Maintenance Leader is responsible for overseeing the preventative and periodic maintenance required to optimize the facility's and building maintenance, safety, health and environment systems, energy and controls instrumentations. This role will lead and manage maintenance team rapid response to repair any equipment or facility failures that jeopardize safety or impact production. Provide strategic leadership to establish and optimize the facility operations for a new greenfield manufacturing site producing dry vacuum pumps for high-precision applications.

Main Responsibilities

• Maintenance Leadership & Team Development: Lead, coordinate, and develop the Facilities Maintenance team, establishing work priorities, assigning resources, providing technical direction, and ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, effectively, and on schedule.
• Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Management: Develop and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for facility infrastructure and manufacturing support systems. Drive effective use of the CMMS to schedule work, manage backlog, document repairs, and improve equipment reliability.
• Facility Infrastructure & Utilities Reliability: Ensure the safe and reliable operation of critical facility systems, including electrical distribution, HVAC, compressed air, water, plumbing, lighting, and other building infrastructure required to support manufacturing operations.
• Safety, Regulatory & Environmental Compliance: Ensure facilities maintenance activities comply with company EHS requirements and applicable regulatory standards. Provide leadership for safe work practices including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, contractor safety, hazardous material management, emergency response, fire protection, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Contractor & Vendor Management: Manage contractors, service providers, and suppliers performing facility maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installations. Define scopes of work, coordinate site activities, verify safe work practices, monitor quality and schedule performance, and ensure work meets facility requirements.
• Capital Projects & Facility Improvements: Plan and support facility upgrades, equipment installations, infrastructure replacement, expansion projects, and continuous-improvement initiatives. Coordinate with Engineering, Production, EHS, contractors, and other stakeholders to minimize operational disruption and ensure successful project execution. Facility upgrades and capital improvements are already identified within the maintenance team's responsibilities.
• Emergency Response & Operational Support: Provide leadership during facility emergencies, utility interruptions, equipment failures, and other critical events. Coordinate troubleshooting and recovery activities to safely restore facility services and minimize manufacturing downtime.
• Planning, Budgeting & Continuous Improvement: Develop maintenance plans and priorities, monitor maintenance costs and resource requirements, identify infrastructure risks, and recommend equipment replacements, reliability improvements, energy-efficiency projects, and other initiatives that improve facility performance, sustainability, and long-term reliability.
