Job summary

Farm Sanctuary is seeking a Site Operations Specialist to lead project-based maintenance on our 275-acre Watkins Glen site. The role combines hands-on repair work with independent project ownership, focusing on buildings, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, vehicles, and farm equipment while maintaining safety standards.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of multi-trade experience, strong problem solving, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years relevant experience working in construction, maintenance, repairs, fleet maintenance, and/or HVAC, plumbing or electrical.
• Highly self-sufficient, able to complete tasks and projects with minimal oversight.
• Professional demeanor and strong communicator, able to mentor and train technician-level staff.
• Able to present project proposals including cost estimates for internal and contractor work.

Responsibilities

• Independently assess maintenance, repair, installation, construction, and site-improvement needs.
• Develop project plans with scope, costs, materials, labor, timeline, and safety considerations.
• Organize approved projects, obtain materials, coordinate schedules, and perform hands-on work.
• Monitor progress, costs, delays, and seek approvals before scope changes.
• Inspect and test completed work, correct deficiencies, and document outcomes.
• Perform advanced maintenance across buildings, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, vehicles, and site infrastructure.
