Job summary

Laitram, L.L.C. seeks a Maintenance Generalist to support Corporate Facilities Management and Engineering at our Harahan office.

The role maintains offices, shops, grounds, and manufacturing areas in a safe, clean condition and assists with demand and corrective work orders for campus operations. You will work with a variety of tools, read blueprints, and support office moves and workspace reconfigurations while adhering to safety standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant mechanical or facilities maintenance experience.
• Problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
• Willingness and ability to learn new tools, systems and procedures.
• Ability to collaborate with colleagues and support continuous-improvement initiatives.
• May be required to use a variety of hand and power tools and operate a forklift and/or aerial lift.
• Strong communication to deliver excellent customer satisfaction.
• Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks including climbing ladders and lifting.
• Overtime and/or weekends may be required to complete projects.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to lift up to 73 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, relocate, and reconfigure office furniture, workstations, shelving, and storage systems.
• Install warehouse and storage racking in compliance with specs and safety requirements.
• Perform minor facility repairs such as ceiling tile replacement and touch-up work.
• Hang and mount signs, whiteboards, bulletin boards, artwork, TVs, shelving, and other wall-mounted items.
• Support office moves, relocations, and workspace reconfigurations.
• Assist in common area refresh projects including furniture updates and aesthetic improvements.
• Perform routine facility inspections and identify repair opportunities.
• Work from drawings or job layouts and operate a range of tools and machines.
• Source and order parts and services as needed.
• Operate a company vehicle to travel to job sites and pick up parts.
• Document completed work in the CMMS and update work orders.
• May be on call for telephone support or emergency response.
