Job summary

YMCA of the East Valley is seeking a Maintenance Engineer II in Redlands, CA. This full-time, non-exempt role focuses on custodial and basic maintenance to ensure a clean and safe facility. You will assist with repairs and daily operations and may travel to multiple branches for needed maintenance tasks.

The position requires a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and knowledge of safety standards and facility trades. A proactive, team-oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 21+ years old with valid driver's license; clean driving record.
  • Proof of state-required insurance for personal vehicles used for YMCA business.
  • No DUI convictions within the last three years.
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping hand tools, vacuums, hoses, and sprayers.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing and other trade skills pertaining to the facility.
  • Basic knowledge of facility requirements from governmental agencies (OSHA, etc.).
  • Advanced custodial experience.
  • Good human relations skills.
  • Experience with basic landscaping equipment.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned projects.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of proper safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily custodial functions to ensure a clean, safe and fully operational facility.
  • Complete work orders as needed.
  • Upkeep of equipment and facility with active preventative maintenance program.
  • Communicate well verbally and in writing and maintain productive relationships with others.
  • Implement solutions to challenging situations by analytical reasoning or research.
  • May respond to alarm emergencies at any time.
  • Travel to Highland and San Bernardino branches using YMCA van to facilitate needed repairs.
  • Assist maintenance staff in day-to-day operations as assigned.
  • Work effectively in varied environmental conditions (indoor and outdoor; 70–100°F).
  • Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and risk management practices.
  • Trips to the San Bernardino YMCA, Highland YMCA, and hardware stores as necessary.

Salary Range: $21.00 To $24.00 Annually

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Engineer II provides basic custodial and maintenance duties with an emphasis on cleanliness and appearance of the facility. They will also assist maintenance personnel in day-to-day operations as assigned. This position includes working with other staff to solve issues of repairs/safety of facility and reporting any issues to safety violations to their primary supervisor and the Facility Manager.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform daily custodial functions to ensure a clean, safe and fully operational facility
  • Completes work orders as needed
  • Upkeep of equipment and facility with active preventative and safe maintenance program
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing, and maintains productive relationships with others
  • Ability to implement solutions to challenging situations by analytical reasoning or research
  • May be required to respond to alarm emergencies at any given time
  • Travel to the Highland and San Bernardino branches using YMCA van to facilitate needed repairs
  • Assist maintenance staff in day-to-day operations as assigned
  • Ability to work effectively in a variety of environmental conditions including indoor and outdoor temperature ranges from 70 degrees to 100 degrees
  • Follows the YMCA personnel policies, practices, salary administration plan, emergency procedures and risk management procedures

  • Proof of state-required insurance for personal vehicles used for YMCA business
  • Evidence of a clean driving record or authorization for a driving record background check
  • No DUI convictions within the last three years
  • Basic knowledge of landscaping hand tools, vacuums, hoses, and sprayers
  • Basic knowledge of electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing and other trade skills that pertain to the facility
  • Basis knowledge of facility requirements from governmental agencies (OSHA, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • The employee must be able to do maintenance work on roof, as needed
  • Employee must be able to work on a ladder and at heights

Driving Responsibilities:

  • Trips to the San Bernardino YMCA, Highland YMCA, and hardware stores if necessary
