Job summary

Sinai Hospital in Baltimore is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic I to handle general facility, building, and equipment maintenance and repair, both scheduled and unscheduled. You will complete work orders, perform preventative maintenance, identify problems, determine materials, document activities, and use the CMMS system.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience in wall construction, door/frame installation, drywall finishing, and related tasks.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in maintenance and construction tasks.
• Experience with wall construction, door hardware, drywall installation and finishing.
• Must use English and metric measurements (fractions and decimals).

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic I classification.
• Install, construct, test, inspect, modify and repair new and existing partitions, walls, wall protection, windows, forms, frames, drywall, doors, locks, door closures, door hardware, cabinets, casework, bookcases, counters, shelves, fixtures, flooring, furniture, ceiling tiles/grid, glass, mirrors, etc.
• Constructs infection control barriers as needed or assigned.
• Installs fire stop material as needed or assigned.
• Patch, prep, paint, stain, etc. of exterior and interior surfaces of structures, areas, forms, furniture, furnishings, fixtures, equipment, etc.
• Plans, designs, and specifies the fabrication, installation and/or modification of casework, counters, walls, door assemblies, ceiling tile/grid etc. utilizing data and standard engineering practices.
• Measures, calculates and determines the components, materials and quantities to be used.
• Ensures that building and fire codes are met.
• Determines project scope of work, schedules, manpower, material, equipment, etc. to perform and complete tasks.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned and assists any higher departmental job classification as assigned
• Documents work activity both by written means and electronically by use of the Computer Maintenance Management System, per departmental guidelines.
• Reads and interprets written specifications, work orders, written and oral instructions, models and graphic illustrations such as lay-out diagrams, blueprints, work sketches, etc. Mentors newly assigned employees.
