Job summary

ArtCenter College of Design is seeking an experienced Facilities Lead Mechanic to join our team on site in Pasadena, California. The role focuses on maintaining building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and supporting departments with setup and vendor coordination.

Primary duties include scheduling work, managing small projects, and overseeing vendors while ensuring safety and compliance across campus operations. Strong maintenance and project management skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or technical degree from a recognized trade school, or equivalent experience.
• 7 years maintenance and/or building repair on complex systems.
• Possess a valid California Driver License.
• Read, write and understand English to interact with staff, faculty and vendors.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (team-lift up to 100 lbs) and work in varied environments.
• Willingness to work weekends, nights and respond to emergencies.
• Experience in managing work order systems (CMMS) and building automation systems (BMS).
• Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to follow through on tasks.
• Ability to manage projects and vendors; adapt to changing priorities; work well in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide complete and timely service on tasks and work orders.
• Perform building repairs including plumbing and upkeep of campus interior and grounds.
• Wall restoration and painting.
• Troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire life/safety issues.
• Operate forklift, grounds vehicles, power tools and landscaping equipment.
