Job summary

The City of Garland Facilities Management division seeks a Skilled Trades Journeyman to troubleshoot and repair commercial HVAC systems and oversee construction-related tasks in all city buildings. The role supports preventative maintenance programs and coordinates with contractors to ensure timely, compliant work.

Candidates must have the appropriate trades license (Electrical Journeyman, HVAC technician, or Plumbing Journeyman) with several years of verifiable experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Electrical Journeyman License with four years of verifiable experience OR HVAC Technician with four years of verifiable experience OR Plumbing Journeyman License with four years of verifiable experience.
• Completion of Level II courses in training system with four years of verifiable general building maintenance experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs building systems and components in City facilities.
• Performs preventative maintenance and coordinates with contractors.
• Inspects and maintains electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security systems.
• Trains others as needed and participates in on-call rotation when required.
• Ensures compliance with City, State, and County codes.
