Job summary

Relativity Space is hiring in California for a Facilities Engineering and Operations role focused on HVAC and building systems. You will work across teams to maintain and optimize mechanicals, manage safety, and help drive reliability in a fast-paced factory environment.

The team emphasizes people, process, and place, overseeing energy management, safety, and custodial services while supporting engineering projects and space planning. Expect hands-on work and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • HVAC systems expertise and maintenance
  • 5+ years in construction with mechanical systems
  • Strong troubleshooting of mechanical equipment
  • Experience with construction drawings, design docs, and QA/QC
  • Experience with commissioning and maintaining mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of electrical grounding/bonding in mechanical systems

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair heating, cooling, and other mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Review and work with construction drawings, single-line diagrams, and design docs.
  • Coordinate commissioning, operating and maintenance activities; ensure QA/QC.
  • Ensure safety compliance and manage vendor coordination for projects.

About the Team:

The Facilities Engineering and Operations department is responsible for maintaining and optimizing Relativity's physical assets, including buildings, infrastructure, and utilities. Guided by our team motto, "People, Process, and Place," we manage maintenance programs for critical systems like HVAC, plumbing, and electrical, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Our team oversees daily operations, including energy management, safety, and custodial services, while also addressing facility-related issues. We lead engineering projects, manage space utilization , and implement sustainability initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Key skills within the team include technical expertise , project management, problem-solving, and vendor management. Ultimately, we play a key role in maintaining a safe, efficient, and sustainable work environment.

About the Role:
  • Excellent working knowledge of Heating & Cooling Systems
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in the construction industry working with Mechanical systems and other trades.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment.
  • Experience with Mechanical distribution, load balancing, single-line diagrams, design documentation, construction drawings, construction bid solicitation, contractor selection, construction management, field superintendent, permitting, QA/QC.
  • Experience with commissioning, operating, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Experience with grounding and bonding electrical and mechanical systems.
About You:
  • Experience maintaining and repairing HVAC systems
  • Prior experience in service maintenance, construction, and/or repair.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, which may involve working from heights at 80+ ft and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work on ladders as well as squatting, stooping and/or kneeling with a tool belt
  • Valid California state driver's license and acceptable driving record
Nice to haves but not required:
  • C-20 HVAC License
  • OHSA 30
  • Forklift certification, preferred

Hiring Range:

$22 - $33 USD
