Job summary

Aspire MRO is seeking a Facilities – HVAC Technician to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, and servicing of HVAC and building control systems. You will apply knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and digital controls to diagnose issues and ensure safe, efficient operation.

The role requires documenting work, communicating findings to management, and providing recommendations to improve reliability and energy management.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of commercial controls troubleshooting in HVAC.
  • Vocational school graduate or associate's degree in a technical field, or two years’ related experience.
  • Ability to install/service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting to management.
  • Knowledge of control theory and building automation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning of HVAC and building control systems.
  • Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions using electronic, pneumatic, and digital controls.
  • Coordinate work with facilities manager and ensure timely, professional execution.
  • Follow safety standards and provide safety guidance to technicians.
  • Assist in design/configuration of building control systems and develop diagrams/schematics.
  • Assist in developing/testing software for system operation.
  • Support loading/commissioning of controllers and validate system functionality.
  • Provide recommendations and quotes to improve facility efficiency.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Facilities – HVAC Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, commissioning, and servicing of HVAC, building control, facilities management, and energy management systems. This position applies technical knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems to diagnose system issues, support software testing and commissioning activities, and ensure equipment and systems operate efficiently and safely.

The role requires the ability to manage assigned work professionally and efficiently, complete required service and project documentation, communicate issues and solutions to management, and provide recommendations that support reliable and efficient facility operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems (including detailed troubleshooting of systems). Properly completes required project and service documentation.
  • Diagnoses and repairs complex control system malfunctions by applying advanced knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, and digital control systems, including the ability to test related system software.
  • Manages assigned work to meet professional and efficient execution of time and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management immediately. Interfaces with Facilities manager, on projects to coordinate activities as required ethically and professionally.
  • Adheres to all Aspire MRO’s safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all assisting technicians in the department. Provides safety awareness while working around aircraft.
  • Performs other duties related to the installation, commissioning, and servicing of building controls, facilities management systems, and energy management systems, as assigned.
  • Assists in the design and configuration of building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Creates flow diagrams, sequence of operations, and bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
  • Assists in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per the project requirements' intent.
  • Assists in the loading and commissioning of all system and network-level controllers as required. Assists in validation of complete system functionality and troubleshoots problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facility is running efficiently.
  • Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 3+ years Commercial Controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry. This includes buildings, chiller plants and systems.
  • Vocational School program graduate or an associate's degree in a technical field, or two years’ experience in servicing electronic and or mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment.
  • Effective communication skills to report issues, explain solutions, and provide updates to management.
  • Possesses the ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
  • Demonstrate effective writing skills as well as understanding of programs and software applications.
  • Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in indoor settings, including office and warehouse/airplane hangar environments which require the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines and safety gear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

Occasional bending and kneeling. Sitting about 50% of the time. Walking required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
