Job summary

Porter Township School Corporation is seeking a Maintenance / Grounds Worker to perform maintenance on buildings, grounds, and equipment while ensuring safety and reliability of facilities.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, can read blueprints, operate grounds equipment, and perform preventive maintenance; CDL desirable but not required. This is an on-site role across district sites in Porter Township, Indiana.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; post-secondary trade training desirable.
• Meets health requirements and maintains safety standards.
• Understanding of environmental, health, safety laws and building codes.
• Able to read blueprints/schematics and MSDS.
• Experience in preventive maintenance and building systems.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance on buildings, structures, windows, doors, and furnishings.
• Maintains grounds, fields, and recreation areas; logs pesticide usage.
• Supports safety inspections and ensures compliance with codes and ADA standards.
• Keeps supervisor informed of ongoing activities and issues.
• Prepares reports, inventories, and coordinates deliveries and supplies.
• Assists with emergency responses and district security as needed.
