Job summary

St. Jane de Chantal Church & School in Bethesda, MD, seeks a full-time Facilities Maintenance Manager to oversee building and grounds for the parish and school campus, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.

You will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate contractors, handle preventive maintenance, respond to urgent issues, and support events, with a schedule around 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. when possible.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance or facilities experience.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general repairs.
• Ability to supervise staff and work independently.
• Ability to lift 40–50 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must meet Archdiocesan Child Protection Policy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC, boilers, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
• Operate fire alarm, sprinkler systems, and elevators
• Respond to work orders and urgent issues
• Supervise custodial/maintenance staff and approve timecards
• Coordinate contractors and facility projects
• Oversee grounds, landscaping, and seasonal work
• Ensure compliance with safety codes and insurance requirements
• Support parish/school events and file insurance claims as needed
• Communicate with staff, vendors, ADW, and government agencies
