Job summary

City of Odessa is seeking a Building Maintenance Technician to perform basic building and grounds maintenance, graffiti removal, and custodial duties within City facilities. The role requires following safety rules, reporting hazards, and maintaining regular attendance.

The position involves minor repairs, operating cleaning tools, and supporting city operations while interacting professionally with the public and staff. A valid Texas driver’s license may be required for duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of general labor experience, building maintenance and/or general building construction.
• Knowledge of safety rules/regulations and materials, equipment, and tools used in cleaning/maintaining buildings.
• Ability to operate/maintain tools; follow written/verbal instructions; adhere to BSD safety standards; work cooperatively with others; communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic building and grounds maintenance, graffiti removal and custodial work.
• Perform minor repairs and small parts replacements.
• Follow safety regulations and report hazards or problems to supervisor.
• Be available for 24-hour call and maintain regular attendance.
• Engage with visitors and city staff professionally and maintain confidentiality.
