Job description

Overview

PECNA is looking to fill the position of Facilities Fire System Tech - Level 4. The main responsibilities of this position include maintenance and inspections of all fire systems within the facility. This position will also include involvement with a variety of facility operations and maintenance duties.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  1. Operate effectively in a team of fire sprinkler, fire alarm, fire extinguisher technicians conducting inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on existing systems. Facility equipment and systems include, but are not limited to: fire alarm panels, smoke detection, heat detection, manual pull stations, horn/strobe components, area speakers, duct smoke detectors, smoke/fire dampers, mass notification systems, fire pumps, fire water tank, fire riser assemblies, fire sprinklers, position-indicating valves, fire hydrants, smoke/fire doors, fire resistant insulation, and other specialty systems.
  2. Complete all required inspections and preventative maintenance on various sizes and types of fire extinguishers.
  3. Complete schedule of preventative maintenance, testing, and repair work for fire and life-safety systems, assessing for any deficiencies and requirements for corrective action measures. Ensure accuracy and maintenance of fire systems documentation.
  4. Compile and maintain a daily report of on-site issues.
  5. Quickly respond to queries, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues that arise from the field with engineering support.
  6. Provide input for lessons learned, and for the development of templates and standards for future phases/projects.
  7. Support production and facility systems inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
  8. Assist the local fire authorities, public agencies, and third-party vendors to ensure compliance with the facility’s fire management protocol.
  9. Assess the necessity for and participate in training required for department duties and all PECNA personnel.
  10. Participate in all required emergency response training and operations.
  11. Respond to site emergencies, coordinating with relevant teams and authorities.
  12. Communicate effectively with customers and management, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  13. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, codes, rules, regulations, and Panasonic policies, standards, and procedures.
  14. Depending upon workload, this position may be required to assist with other Facilities duties in addition to primary responsibilities for fire and fire life-safety systems.
Qualifications

Education

  • Required: A high school diploma, GED, or at least three years of experience as Fire Systems Technician or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of a relevant vocational training and/or certification program.

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years of recent experience in relevant areas noted.
  • NICET Level I: Inspection & testing of fire alarm and water-based systems.
  • Knowledge of building fire protection standards, system types (fire alarm, dampers, dry/wet, standpipes, fire hydrants, and fire suppression), sequence of operations, emergency procedures, and fire watch procedures.
  • OSHA 10
  • HAZWOPER 8

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET Level II: Inspection & testing of fire alarm and water-based systems.
  • 5+ years of recent experience in relevant areas noted.
  • Associate or Bachelor in a Fire Protection-related discipline from an accredited college or university, including degrees in engineering fields that are applied to the practice of fire protection.

Preferred License(s):

  • Current state-issued driver's license with a CDL.

Preferred Certification(s):

  • NFPA 70E or NFPA 70B
  • OSHA 30
  • HAZWOPER 24
  • ICS 100 and 200
