Columbus House is seeking an Environmental Services Worker in Middletown, CT to help clean and maintain multiple facilities. The role supports trauma-informed service values and prioritizes safety, trust, and collaboration in a homeless services environment.

Under the Facilities Manager, duties include grounds work, interior cleaning, and documentation. Schedule is 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8am–4pm, with benefits for full-time staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to follow directions and accept supervision.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Basic computer skills for time keeping and email.
• Culturally competent with teamwork.
• Strong empathic skills and reliability.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsabilités

• Clean and maintain grounds including grass cutting, shrub pruning, snow removal and de-icing.
• Reliably transport staff, materials, supplies and tools throughout Connecticut.
• Clean and maintain interior spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, offices, dining areas, residential spaces and common areas.
• Complete all required documentation and reporting.
• Participate in staff meetings as directed.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Purpose

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Environmental Services Worker assists with the cleaning and maintenance of the various Columbus House facilities in New Haven, Wallingford and Middletown as assigned. Environmental Services Workers are mindful of the clients served by Columbus House and seek to maintain a physical environment that reflects the core values of Trauma Informed Service: Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration and empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain grounds including but not limited to grass cutting, shrub pruning, snow removal and de-icing

• Clean and maintain all interior spaces including kitchens, bathrooms, offices, dining areas, residential spaces and common areas
• Complete all required documentation and reporting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Able to follow directions and accept supervision
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with a deadline oriented mindset
• Basic computer skills for time keeping and email purposes
• Culturally competent; must possess the capacity to work within a team and foster teamwork
• Strong empathic skills coupled with a high degree of reliability and punctuality
• Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record

Supervised by:Facilities Manager

Schedule:40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
