Job summary

Iredell Health System seeks an Assistant Director of Engineering to partner with the Director of Engineering in overseeing daily operations of facilities, utilities, and building systems across the organization.

The role focuses on preventive maintenance, project coordination, and regulatory readiness, while supervising maintenance staff and coordinating contractors to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering, facilities management, construction management, business, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, engineering, plant operations, construction, or related technical field.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of building systems, preventive maintenance practices, life safety systems, utility systems, and facility operations.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Direct day-to-day operations of the Engineering and Facilities departments, including maintenance response and staffing priorities.
• Support safe, reliable operation of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, life safety, building automation, utility, and related facility systems.
• Help develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for critical equipment and systems.
• Coordinate repairs, inspections, testing, and documentation for regulatory compliance and accreditation readiness.
• Assist with department budgeting, expense monitoring, and project cost tracking.
• Maintain communication with leadership, clinical departments, support services, vendors, and staff regarding facility needs and project status.
