MPI is seeking an experienced Facilities Engineering Manager to lead operations, capital projects, engineering initiatives, and infrastructure reliability at a high-volume chemical manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years in chemical manufacturing, 5+ years in leadership, and proven ability to manage capital projects, safety programs, and cross-functional teams in a demanding industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years in chemical/manufacturing environments, semiconductor or specialty chemicals preferred.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering/maintenance teams.
  • 5+ years of capital project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of facility utility systems (HVAC, electrical, process water, infrastructure).
  • Proven contractor/vendor management and cross-functional project leadership.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

The Facilities Engineering Manager will provide leadership and oversight for facilities operations, capital projects, engineering initiatives, and infrastructure reliability at a high-volume chemical manufacturing facility.

The organization develops and manufactures specialty chemical formulations and advanced materials used in semiconductor manufacturing and packaging. These products enable the production of microchips that power technologies such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and data infrastructure.

Description
Operations Management
  • Direct daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for critical facility and utility systems, including UPW, HVAC, electrical, and process support equipment.
  • Ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facility infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and implement corrective and preventive maintenance strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvements related to reliability, uptime, and operational efficiency.
Capital Projects & Project Leadership
  • Lead the planning, design, execution, and commissioning of capital projects and facility upgrades.
  • Manage project scope, budgets, timelines, contractor performance, and project deliverables.
  • Support facility expansions, equipment installations, and infrastructure improvements aligned with business objectives.
  • Monitor project performance and allocate resources to ensure successful completion of key initiatives.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering, maintenance, and technical personnel.
  • Manage performance, training, succession planning, and employee development activities.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and a safety-first culture throughout the organization.
  • Provide direction and oversight to third-party contractors and engineering service providers.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure all facility operations comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plan (RMP), and environmental compliance programs.
  • Maintain adherence to company quality standards, safety procedures, and engineering best practices.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, and corrective action programs as required.
Budgeting & Strategic Planning
  • Develop and manage departmental operating and capital budgets.
  • Establish long-term facility infrastructure and reliability strategies.
  • Develop and implement engineering standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the capital approval process and provide financial justification for proposed projects.
  • Deliver regular reporting on departmental metrics, project status, asset reliability, and operational performance.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, efficiency, reliability, and cost performance.
  • Drive root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions for recurring operational issues.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain teams to support manufacturing excellence.
  • Participate in cross-functional review boards and change management processes to support safe and effective business operations.
Profile
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing, semiconductor manufacturing, specialty chemicals, or a related industrial environment.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing engineering, maintenance, or technical teams.
  • 5+ years of capital project management experience.
  • Strong understanding of facility utility systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, process water systems, and building infrastructure.
  • Proven experience managing contractors, vendors, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment and successfully complete required pre-employment screening requirements.
Preferred
  • Experience working within Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facilities.
  • Experience supporting semiconductor, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, or advanced manufacturing operations.
  • SAP experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification or Project Management certification is a plus.
Job Offer
  • Salary Range: $160,000 - $175,000 + Annual Bonus
