Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Facilities Engineer for the Starlink Production facility in Bastrop, TX. The role focuses on improving soft-services, procurement, utilities, and spares to support rapid campus expansion and reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with IoT/OT protocols used in building systems.

FACILITIES ENGINEER (STARLINK)

As a Facilities Engineer at our Starlink Production facility, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of site operations. You will be responsible for evaluating and improving soft-services and operational support functions site-wide, including fleet, workplace services, space planning, service contracts, utilities, and critical spares. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement initiatives, implement data-driven predictive and preventative maintenance strategies, and build the metrics that quantify the health of Facilities operations. Additionally, you will be tasked with standardizing processes across a rapidly expanding industrial campus, closing workflow gaps at every level of the business, and aligning with maintenance and construction teams at other SpaceX sites to set uniform, high standards, with the goal of creating a world-class facility that can support the mission of connecting people across the globe and enabling life beyond Earth. This position is based in Bastrop, Texas (Greater Austin, TX Area).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Optimize site-wide soft-services operations, including fleet, workplace services, and space planning, to improve service levels and cost
• Analyze site-services contracts (custodial, landscaping, transportation, waste, and similar) for cost, performance, and scope; build a roadmap to improve vendor performance
• Own the site plan for infrastructure consumables and critical spares to protect equipment availability and accelerate urgent projects
• Own site-level utility forecasting and help structure contract terms that keep up with rapid facility expansion
• Standardize and integrate the site-wide Building Management System (BMS) and SCADA platforms; use the data to implement predictive and preventative maintenance strategies on critical infrastructure
• Lead departmental continuous-improvement work, including new process rollouts and standardization
• Work across all levels of the business to map current workflows, find gaps, and put durable solutions in place
• Define department-level metrics and dashboards that quantify Facilities operations health, reliability, and efficiency
• Align with maintenance and construction teams at other SpaceX sites to set uniform, high standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or construction (internship experience qualifies)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in manufacturing operations and/or facilities maintenance
• Proficiency in statistics, data analysis, data visualization, and cost-benefit analysis
• Experience with one or more of: CAD, ArcGIS, Archibus, Power BI, Jira, SQL
• Experience using automation or AI tools to improve speed and quality of operational work
• Familiarity with IoT/OT protocols used in building systems (MQTT, OPC UA)
• Experience with industrial PLCs used in building management systems (Schneider Electric, Beckhoff, Siemens)
• Exposure to inventory, production, and capacity planning, including MRP/ERP systems
• Familiarity with manufacturing and reliability metrics (OEE, availability, MTBF, MTTR)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to turn analysis into a clear recommendation for non-engineering stakeholders

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed, including occasional short-notice domestic travel
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical activities and site emergencies
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to travel occasionally as required to support project needs
