Job summary

MACOM in Durham, NC is seeking a Facilities Engineer, Life Safety Systems to own, design, test, and maintain fire and life safety infrastructure across the site. You will lead projects, ensure NFPA/IFC/IBC compliance, and coordinate with EHS, Security, and operations to protect personnel and equipment.

Your background includes 5–10 years in life safety or EHS engineering, strong communication, SAP, and a PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Facilities, or related discipline)
• Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and engineering standards
• Experience with dangerous substances; including gases, solids, and liquids
• Prior semiconductor manufacturing experience
• Experience managing contractors, consultants, and capital budgets

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical owner for life safety systems
• Design, review, and maintain life safety systems including toxic gas monitoring, fire alarm, sprinkler, and gas detection systems
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, IFC, IBC, FM Global, and local AHJ requirements
• Support regulatory compliance, audits, and inspections
• Lead capital improvement and upgrade projects from start to finish
• Coordinate with operations, manufacturing, R&D, IT, security, and other teams
