Job summary

Highgate Hotels in Honolulu is seeking an Engineer 2 to help maintain the Pagoda Hotel. The role centers on preventive maintenance, repairs to HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing and general building systems.

You will read blueprints and schedules, assist in supervising other engineering staff, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards. The position is hourly and pays $25.00–$27.50 per hour.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of hotel or related field experience preferred.
• Flexibility for long hours and physical work.

Responsibilities

• Make repairs to hotel air conditioning system: change filters, clean coils, replace motors.
• Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment (boilers, chillers, HVAC, electrical, etc.).
• Take required readings on equipment.
• Test cooling tower and record readings.
• Replace and program televisions as needed.
• Replace light switches, receptacles, light bulbs and fixtures.
• Perform furniture repair.
• Replace and repair pumps.
• Perform plumbing repairs (clogged drains, copper pipe, fix fittings).
• Understand and read blueprints and wiring diagrams.
• Trace and repair water lines.
• Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
• Maintain repair and preventive maintenance records.
• Perform work to local, state and Federal codes.
• Test, clean and repair swimming pools and spas.
• Paint designated areas.
• Repair and finish sheet rock.
• Repair wall coverings.
• Repair and program hotel electronic lock system.
• Assist in supervising other engineering staff.
• Assist in scheduling preventive maintenance tasks.
