Job summary

Boston Scientific in Minnesota seeks a Facilities Engineer to support critical infrastructure and systems across campuses, ensuring reliability, compliance and safety in FDA-regulated environments. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g. mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil, industrial) engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting facilities engineering, infrastructure engineering, manufacturing engineering or utility systems within a regulated industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure systems such as HVAC, chillers, boilers, compressed air, clean utilities, generators or related building systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex engineering or operational systems and driving process improvements.
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, change control and quality systems within regulated environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing operational needs within a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and engineering documentation systems.
  • Ability to work full-time out of any site (i.e. Arden Hills, Arbor Lakes, or Maple Grove)

Responsibilities

  • Managing and supporting facilities infrastructure and capital projects to improve system reliability, operational efficiency and long-term campus performance
  • Identifying opportunities to improve monitoring, alarming and automation capabilities to enhance system reliability and minimize operational risk
  • Supporting the operation, reliability and continuous improvement of critical campus infrastructure systems, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, generators, roofing systems, stormwater systems, sanitary sewer systems and related utilities
  • Troubleshooting and investigating the root-cause of infrastructure and utility-related issues impacting site operations
  • Partnering with facilities technicians to improve maintenance processes, system troubleshooting capabilities and operational effectiveness across the site
  • Supporting compliance activities associated with critical utility systems, including purified water systems, compressed air systems, clean rooms and controlled environments
  • Identifying and implementing energy efficiency initiatives and infrastructure upgrades that support operational and environmental sustainability as well as emissions reduction goals
  • Supporting qualification, validation and change control activities for regulated systems and infrastructure; ensure facilities systems and processes comply with applicable regulatory, quality and operational standards
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining engineering documentation, procedures and quality records in support of FDA-regulated manufacturing environments
  • Coordinating with contractors, vendors and cross-functional teams to execute facilities-related work safely and efficiently across campus operations

About the role:

The Facilities Engineer supports critical infrastructure, systems and processes that enable large-scale medical device manufacturing and laboratory operations, ensuring reliability, compliance and sustainability across campuses. The role partners with facilities technicians, manufacturing teams and cross-functional stakeholders to improve how facilities systems are designed, monitored, maintained and operated, and to ensure systems operate efficiently and safely in alignment with FDA regulations. You will focus on infrastructure performance, process improvement, troubleshooting and long-term system reliability, while providing flexible operational support across facilities functions as business and site needs evolve.

The Facilities Engineer provides engineering support and project execution for facilities systems and infrastructure supporting medical device manufacturing, laboratory and office environments. Under general supervision, this role designs, constructs, commissions, qualifies and maintains controlled environments and facility systems. The position contributes to cross-functional infrastructure projects and executes defined scopes while ensuring regulatory and quality standards compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

Preferred qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or related technical certifications
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, reliability engineering or asset management principles
  • Experience supporting FDA-regulated manufacturing, medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience with clean rooms, controlled environments, purified water systems or validated utility systems
  • Experience supporting energy efficiency, sustainability or emissions reduction initiatives
  • Familiarity with building automation systems, monitoring systems and industrial controls
  • Experience partnering closely with maintenance or facilities technician teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication, collaboration and project coordination skills

Salary: Minimum $71,500 – Maximum $135,800

The anticipated compensation and benefits vary by location. Compensation will be commensurate with experience, education, licensure and certifications.

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may include overtime and shift differentials and annual bonus target. For exempt, non-sales roles, a bonus target and long-term incentives may apply.
