Facilities Engineer Overview

As a leading senior services and healthcare organization in Northern California, we provide a continuum of care and social services to enable seniors to live well and live their lives to the fullest. The Facilities Engineer is responsible for maintaining the facility with essential building maintenance, preventative, and corrective work. This position also assists other trades in completing required tasks.

What you’ll do as a Facilities Engineer
  • Maintain, repair, and correct all building components as assigned, keeping the designated manager informed of needs and/or changes required to keep the facility operating safely and efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to facility maintenance needs to ensure maximum operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with all divisions and departments to meet maintenance, installation, and construction needs. Recommend and oversee outside maintenance contractors as appropriate, ensuring compliance with hospital standards.
  • Monitor maintenance, repair, alterations, and renovation work to ensure quality and standards are met. Coordinate construction and installation activities to maintain facility integrity.
  • Keep records to ensure facility compliance with all applicable authorities and regulations.

Qualifications for a Facilities Engineer
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of and certification in applicable regulatory codes (e.g., IBC, UBC, Joint Commission, CMS, NFPA, local building codes)
  • At least two years of diversified maintenance experience with demonstrated skills
  • Ability to work safely and effectively with maintenance equipment
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding maintenance and construction documents
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
