Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a full-time Building Engineer to maintain the Home Office property and grounds, and to operate and repair building systems to ensure safety and comfort for employees and tenants.

You will perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, coordinate with vendors, and manage energy efficiency projects. The role requires attention to detail, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Demonstrated understanding of plumbing, HVAC, building mechanical, and electrical systems.
• Strong attention to detail and planning abilities for prioritizing facilities requests and work orders.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude; ability to work with hand tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, operate, troubleshoot, repair, and update building operating systems and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Perform building checks for HVAC problems, leaks, climate control, and alarm checks.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for snow removal, sprinkler systems, equipment installation, and plumbing projects.
• Adjust heating and cooling equipment to maintain employee and tenant comfort.
• Manage sprinkler system adjustments and coordinate repairs as needed.
• Ensure safety by inspecting grounds and parking areas and performing debris removal and snow removal as required.
• Replace bulbs and ballasts, upgrade to energy-efficient lighting where possible.
• Conserve energy and minimize expenses through proper maintenance and operation of facilities.
• Respond to facility requests and service tickets promptly and professionally.
• Ensure supplies for wellness center and launder towels as needed.
• Maintain maintenance logs and prepare documentation.
• Set clocks for DST and maintain emergency lighting systems.
• Oversee maintenance areas and operate a company vehicle for deliveries as needed.
• Research issues and provide recommendations to service users, ensuring clear communication.
• Perform other related duties and special projects.
