Job summary

Polysciences, Inc. in Warrington, PA is seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to own infrastructure and CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning. You will identify needs, engineer solutions, select contractors, and lead projects across manufacturing, laboratories, and utilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, or related engineering.
• Experience managing facility, infrastructure, and CAPEX projects in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or industrial environments with chemical processes and EHS requirements.
• Ability to manage capital projects end-to-end from scope to closeout.
• Experience developing scopes, budgets, schedules, technical specs, and bid packages.
• Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and utilities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and construction documents.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, building codes, permitting, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead facility and infrastructure CAPEX projects from scope, design, budgeting, bidding, construction, commissioning, to closeout.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, bid packages, and technical requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate proposals; select and manage contractors, vendors, and external resources.
• Manage multiple projects with schedules, budgets, risks, and changes.
• Recommend capital investments to address infrastructure needs and capacity constraints.
• Coordinate projects and shutdowns to minimize disruption to manufacturing and labs.
• Provide management with project, budget, schedule, and risk updates.
• Provide engineering support for HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and other utilities.
• Support manufacturing areas and labs with new equipment integration.
• Troubleshoot facility issues and perform root-cause analysis to improve safety and reliability.
• Identify aging or constrained infrastructure and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with chemical hazards, OSHA, codes, and site procedures.
• Participate in MOC, risk assessments, safety reviews, and change-control processes.
• Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and system documentation.

Our Pennsylvania operations include five facilities supporting manufacturing, laboratories, warehousing, packaging, and technical operations. We're looking for a Facilities Engineer to take ownership of facility infrastructure and CAPEX projects ranging from approximately $50,000 to $5 million. You'll identify needs, engineer solutions, select contractors and vendors, and lead projects from concept through construction and commissioning. Projects range from upgrading critical utilities and aging infrastructure to building new laboratories and supporting manufacturing expansion. It's a hands‑on role with significant autonomy, technical variety, and visible results.

What You'll Do

• Capital Projects & Engineering Lead facility and infrastructure CAPEX projects from $50K to $5MM through scope, design, budgeting, bidding, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, bid packages, and technical requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate proposals; select and manage contractors, vendors, and external engineering resources.
• Manage multiple projects, including schedules, budgets, risks, scope changes, and deliverables.
• Recommend capital investments to address infrastructure needs, capacity constraints, reliability, and facility improvements.
• Coordinate projects and shutdown requirements to minimize disruption to manufacturing and laboratory operations.
• Provide management with clear project, budget, schedule, and risk updates.
• Facilities, Utilities & Infrastructure Provide engineering support for HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, compressed air, ventilation/exhaust, building controls, fire protection, and other industrial utilities and infrastructure.
• Support manufacturing areas, laboratories, and technical spaces, including integration of new equipment and facility systems.
• Troubleshoot facility and utility issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop solutions that improve safety, reliability, capacity, and efficiency.
• Identify aging, obsolete, or capacity‑constrained infrastructure and recommend repair, replacement, or capital improvements.
• Ensure projects address chemical hazards, OSHA requirements, building/fire codes, permitting, EHS and Quality requirements, and site procedures.
• Participate in Management of Change (MOC), project risk assessments, safety reviews, and change‑control processes.
• Provide technical oversight of contractors and maintain appropriate engineering drawings, specifications, and system documentation.

What You'll Bring

• Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Civil, or related Engineering discipline.
• Experience managing facility, infrastructure, and CAPEX projects in an operating manufacturing environment.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing or another industrial environment involving chemical processes, chemical hazards, and comparable facility/EHS requirements.
• Ability to manage capital projects from scope and budgeting through contractor selection, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Experience developing scopes, budgets, schedules, technical specifications, and bid packages.
• Knowledge of industrial facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, ventilation/exhaust, controls, fire protection, and utilities.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction documents, and facility layouts.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, building codes, permitting, and industrial construction safety.
• Strong project management, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and practical problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Facilities, EHS, Quality, contractors, and vendors.
• Ability to work onsite and travel between company facilities in Warrington and Horsham, PA, with occasional planned off‑hours or emergency support.
• Preferred Direct experience in chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, life science, or other chemical‑intensive manufacturing.
• Laboratory construction, renovation, or infrastructure project experience.
• Experience with MOC or comparable engineering change‑control processes.
• SAP/ERP, CMMS, CAD, or building automation system experience.
• PMP, Lean/Six Sigma, OSHA 30, or PE credentials.
