Job summary

ExxonMobil in Center, Texas seeks a senior facility engineer to provide technical support for surface facilities across the Eagle Ford and Haynesville basins. You will manage projects from FEED to operations handover, engage stakeholders, and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires a mechanical/chemical/petroleum engineering background, 3+ years in oil & gas, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. Center, TX based with relocation support available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field required.
  • 3+ years in Oil & Gas with facilities/upstream focus.
  • Experience designing and operating surface facilities.
  • Proven track record in leading projects and investigations.
  • Strong analysis, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and redline P&ID drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for surface facilities in Eagle Ford and Haynesville basins.
  • Lead or participate in project execution, surveillance and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with Operations and regulatory teams; manage Change processes.
  • Conduct risk assessments, HAZOPs, and incident investigations.
  • Develop tools to track facility metrics and performance.

What role you will play on our team

As a senior facility engineer your job will be to provide technical support to fellow engineers on the team and to operations for surface facilities within the Eagle Ford and Haynesville Basins. You will leverage your expertise in engineering and project management to provide operations support, project execution and surveillance for surface facilities while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and business objectives. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management and stakeholder engagement.

This position will be based in Center, Texas.

What you will do
  • Operations Support
    • Ensure engineering controls are in place to enable safe facility operations and compliance with applicable permits and regulations.
    • Identify causes for facility downtime/upsets and evaluate remediation
      • Regular surveillance of facilities
      • Identify issues, assess root causes, and formulate plans to address root causes.
      • Participate in or lead incident investigations
  • Identify causes of facility flaring/venting and evaluate remediation.
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with Operations stakeholders.
  • Liaison with regulatory and compliance teams
  • Project Management and Execution
    • Steward facilities additions and modifications
    • Document proposed changes and stakeholder engagement via Management of Change process
    • Evaluate and address risks associated with process changes (Risk Assessments, HAZOPs, FIMs workshop etc.)
    • Maintain updated facility critical drawings and documents (P&IDs, C&Es etc).
  • Project management of facility upgrade projects
  • Identify opportunities to optimize facility operation, de-bottleneck, reduce OPEX.
  • Develop and justify capital spend to support proposed facility additions and upgrades.
  • Define project scope, budget, procurement plan, risk management and accountability of spend on projects
  • Execute project from FEED to Operations handover.
  • Development and Stewardship of Surveillance Tools
  • Ensure facility process supports accurate and compliant allocations
  • Development of tools to track and report key facility metrics
  • Participate in HAZOPs, lead risk screenings/assessments, and identify risk mitigation opportunities.
About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an Oil and Gas engineering role with a focus on facilities or upstream unconventional.
  • Experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of common surface facilities systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and executing projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to understand/redline P&ID drawings.
