Job summary

State of Vermont's Buildings & General Services is seeking a BGS Maintenance Specialist to oversee maintenance of state buildings in the Northwest District, primarily around St. Albans. The ideal candidate holds a Journeyman Electrician's license or equivalent and is prepared for a full-time daytime schedule.

The role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to pass multiple background checks; duties include preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and coordination with other state staff.

Qualifications

• State licensure at or above the journeyman level in any trade.
• Four (4) or more years of experience in building maintenance or construction, structural maintenance, or landscaping/grounds including one (1) or more year in a specialized trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, pesticide).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair state buildings and facilities in the Northwest District, including the St. Albans area.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and safety checks.
• Support background checks and compliance requirements.
