Job summary

The USS Midway Museum in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the maintenance and day-to-day facilities operations of this unique historic attraction.

This role will supervise a team of about 40 maintenance and custodial personnel, coordinate with contractors and vendors, ensure safe, clean and fully functional spaces, and support the Chief Engineer with budgets and project planning for ongoing preservation and daily museum operations.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of facilities/maintenance experience.
• Experience leading and managing a sizeable maintenance workforce.
• Strong knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing or related systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise approximately 40+ maintenance and custodial personnel.
• Acts on behalf of the Chief Engineer in their absence to ensure continuity.
• Plan, assign, prioritize, and monitor daily work performed by staff, volunteers, vendors, and contractors.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, coach, and evaluate maintenance personnel.
• Develop employees and supervisors, establish clear performance expectations, and promote accountability, teamwork, safety, and responsive customer service.
• Oversee preventive maintenance and repairs involving building and facility systems (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, etc.).
• Coordinate facility improvement and repair projects with outside contractors and vendors.
• Procure custodial, maintenance, repair, equipment, and operating supplies.
• Assist the Chief Engineer with budgeting for the Engineering Department.
