Job summary

Church of the Open Door is seeking a Facilities Director to guide care, safety, and improvements across campuses. You will lead operations, oversee buildings, grounds, vehicles, and systems, ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for ministries and guests.

Work with campus admins to coordinate setup/teardown, manage ARMS/LEGS volunteers, and coordinate with vendors. The role emphasizes proactive maintenance, budget stewardship, and a heart for service.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities management, maintenance, construction, or related field.
  • Knowledge of building systems: HVAC, security, access control, cleaning and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance, repair, safety, and care of COD facilities.
  • Develop and maintain a proactive facility-care plan, including preventive maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and capital needs.
  • Coordinate setup, teardown, cleaning, and event-support needs for each campus.
  • Oversee and develop ARMS and LEGS volunteers at the West York campus.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and lead facilities volunteers across campuses.
  • Manage building systems and schedules, including locks/access control, HVAC, security, lighting, and operations.
  • Coordinate facility access and security procedures to ensure readiness for ministry use.
  • Respond to emergency facility needs during services, events, weekends, and other critical times.
  • Oversee all church-owned vehicles, ensuring proper maintenance, inspections, registration, cleanliness, and safe operation.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, service providers, and repair professionals.
  • Maintain records related to maintenance, inspections, repairs, warranties, vehicles, vendors, and projects.
  • Assist in developing and managing facilities budgets, prioritizing wise stewardship.
  • Ensure facilities comply with safety standards, insurance requirements, and local regulations.
  • Support campus pastors, ministry leaders, and staff by helping prepare facilities for services and events.
  • Attend staff meetings; perform other duties as assigned.

Position: Facilities Director
Classification: Full Time / Central
Reports to: Executive Pastor
Anticipated Work Time: 40-50 Hours/Week

Job Summary

The role of the Director of Facilities is to oversee the care, maintenance, safety, and improvement of all Church of the Open Door owned and leased facilities. This position provides leadership and direction for facility operations across campuses, ensuring that buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment, and building systems are maintained in a safe, clean, functional, and welcoming condition.

The Director of Facilities works closely with campus administrators to ensure setup, teardown, and cleaning needs are appropriately planned and staffed. This role develops and implements proactive plans for ongoing maintenance, future upgrades, and capital improvements. The Director of Facilities also oversees facilities-related volunteers, including ARMS and LEGS volunteers at the West York campus, and coordinates with outside vendors and contractors as needed. Through careful stewardship and responsive leadership, this position supports every ministry of COD in creating environments where people can discover life change through Jesus.

  • Ensure facilities comply with applicable safety standards, insurance requirements, and local regulations.
  • Support campus pastors, ministry leaders, and staff by helping prepare facilities for services, events, outreach activities, and special projects.
  • Attend staff meetings.
