Job description

Job Summary

CADD and CAFM purposes. Develops and maintains records of all essential systems drawings and space database for Corewell Health. Performs field investigations to assess accuracy of drawings at all locations. Prepares required documents for facilities information packages to meet requests for information from internal and external clients. Identify which Master Record documents require updating and address code and standard issues. Reviews essential system packages outsourced to A/E and Engineering firms.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and maintains records of architectural, mechanical, and electrical essential systems. Utilizes AutoCAD to record all changes to ensure that a complete set of accurate records is maintained. Obtains data from external resources as necessary.

  • Field-verifies installation of new or modification of existing facilities. Inspects facilities in coordination with Operations staff to ensure that drawings are accurate. Updates records as required. Performs field investigations of observed record set drawings and corrects variances. Identifies building codes issues. Updates records as required from field observations.

  • Updates essential systems to be consistent with new construction or as-built drawings. Ensures consistency between drawings and observed field conditions. Converts hand-drawn construction project as-built into CAD format.

  • Utilizes CAFM system to update square footage and space requests for Medicare Cost Reports. This includes owned and leased facilities throughout the organization.

  • Special requests: Uses a combination of as-built documents, reports, field investigation and appropriate software to satisfy requests for purposes of training, communication, safety or existing conditions.

  • Accumulates information and prepares facilities information packages to meet facilities information requests. Obtains required information and prepares documents for external and internal clients. Utilize Corewell Health FTP site for document distribution.

  • Library organization: Coordination of filing systems per current standards for electronic and off-site documentation.

  • Uses tools and equipment appropriately. Knows when and how to use tools and equipment to perform the job in an efficient, effective and safe manner. Consistently uses tools and equipment correctly on the job.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required in order to communicate with vendors, guests, hospital staff, management, co-workers and all other persons associated directly or indirectly with Corewell Health.

  • The job requires moderate autonomous decision making. Assignments are received in the form of results expected, due dates and general procedures to be followed. Engineering Technicians must identify observed variances during site inspections and work with a variety of internal and external resources. Code issues, when identified, must be brought to the attention of management.

  • This job may require working indoors and outdoors in a range of temperatures that may vary from hot to cold. Bending, lifting, twisting and standing for long hours may be required.

  • The typical work environment involves potentially everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions; the work area is typically adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. During field inspections, environment involves potentially moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions possibly requiring the use of protective clothing and/or gear.

  • The work as it is typically performed consists of some physical exertion such that specific, common physical abilities may be needed to perform the job. Requires ability to perform field inspections above ceiling and in tight quarters.

  • The job requires operating tools or equipment with involved operating procedures requiring specialized training. Computer software includes CAD and database linking software.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering or equivalent years of education, training, and experience

  • 3 years of relevant experience contract engineering

  • LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan

Preferred

  • Understanding of architectural, electrical or mechanical drawings and building systems

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree or General Studies in Engineering

  • Two to three years in some aspect of engineering or construction coupled with training in the use of CAD software
