Job summary

Harford County Government is seeking a dedicated custodian to maintain cleanliness and safety across assigned facilities and surrounding grounds. The role includes routine custodial tasks, minor maintenance support, and compliance with sanitation standards.

You will clean interiors and exteriors, restock supplies, assist with moving and events, monitor for safety issues, and follow OSHA guidelines. A valid Class C driver's license and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Class C driver’s license with <=3 points.
• One year of experience in commercial custodial/janitorial work.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and signage.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot custodial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, and maintain building interiors and surfaces.
• Perform routine custodial tasks: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, dusting.
• Empty trash and recycle, dispose of waste per designated areas.
• Clean and restock restrooms, supplies, and fixtures.
• Assist with moving furniture and equipment for operations/events.
• Monitor facilities for issues and report hazards to supervision.
• Maintain building exteriors and surrounding grounds; assist with snow/ice removal.
• Follow safety procedures and use PPE properly.
• Provide courteous customer service to staff and visitors.
