Job summary

The Housing Authority of New Orleans is seeking an Acting Maintenance Aide to join our full-time team in New Orleans, LA. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, you will perform cleaning, basic maintenance, and assist with minor repairs to keep facilities safe and well maintained.

Responsibilities include cleaning lobbies and restrooms, floor care, reporting hazards, changing bulbs, assisting with unit turnovers, and supporting grounds cleanup as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 3 years facility maintenance/janitorial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and shared areas.
• Perform comprehensive floor care including sweeping, mopping, and buffing.
• Replace bulbs, tighten fixtures, report leaks, and assist with minor repairs.
• Respond to cleaning requests and spills with professionalism.
• Maintain hazards-free walkways and follow OSHA building safety protocols.
• Assist with turning over vacant units and moving heavy supplies.
