Job summary

Barton College is seeking a Custodial Worker to clean and maintain assigned buildings. Responsibilities include vacuuming classrooms, cleaning restrooms, dusting surfaces, and basic floor care. The role may require nights or weekends for college events.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent OR 12 months of general work experience.
• Ability to read labels and directions on cleaning agents and equipment.
• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Learn new methods of cleaning and maintain effective working relationships.
• Perform basic maintenance on custodial equipment such as changing belts, brushes, and replacing bags.

Responsibilities

• Trash duty and general cleaning: empty waste receptacles, polish furniture, clean boards, disinfect surfaces, stock supply closet.
• Floor and carpet care: dust, mop, apply finish, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Restroom cleaning: sanitize toilets, clean fixtures, refill dispensers, mop floors.
• Utility cleaning: operate powered equipment, sweep/mop stairs, haul trash, set up rooms, replace light bulbs.
• Other duties as assigned: report broken equipment, complete paperwork, request supplies.
