Job summary

Gads Hill Center in Chicago, IL seeks a reliable Custodian to maintain a safe, clean environment across all sites. You will follow a daily cleaning schedule, sanitize classrooms and restrooms, and prepare spaces for the next day while reporting hazards to the Site Manager.

You may assist with light maintenance, furniture moves, and event setup, and participate in agency outreach and professional development as part of our mission to support children and families.

Qualifications

• Previous janitorial experience is required.
• Maintenance experience is preferred.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a clean environment for classrooms, restrooms, windows, floors, and common areas.
• Prepares facility for daily operations by removing trash and tidying spaces.
• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and disinfects surfaces daily.
• Restocks disposables and maintains clean garbage bins and lids.
• Secures the facility after hours and reports safety hazards to the Site Manager.
• Assists with minor repairs, furniture moves, and event setup.
