Job summary

The Evolving Solution Services Hartford-based Facilities Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across the facility. You will perform general cleaning and sanitation tasks, support minor repairs, and assist with moving furniture and equipment, following schedules and safety practices.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and five years of building maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a member of the Facilities team.
• Performs general cleaning and routine tasks under supervision, in accordance with departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for visitors, occupants, and employees.
• Cleans and sanitizes assigned areas by following daily, cyclical, and periodic schedules.
• Utilizes appropriate cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment safely and effectively.
• Collects and disposes of regular waste in compliance with local regulations.
• Transports and delivers furniture, equipment, and other facility-related items using carts, hand trucks, and dollies in a safe manner.
• Assists with assembling, disassembling, and performing minor building repairs and installations as needed.
• Ensures grounds, windows, carpets, and floors are properly cleaned and well-maintained.

About the Role:

The Environmental Service Associate is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This role performs general cleaning and sanitation tasks in accordance with departmental standards and schedules, ensures proper waste disposal, supports minor facility repairs and installations, and assists with the safe movement of furniture and equipment. The position plays an essential role in ensuring a well‑maintained and welcoming environment for visitors, occupants, and employees..

This is a grant funded position. Position is contingent on grant funding .

Physical Demands:

This position requires to stand; walk; push/pull equipment; use arm, leg and back muscles for extended periods; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects and tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb, stoop, kneel or crouch; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

Skills:

The position requires knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, as well as general building repairs, including but not limited to painting, windows, walls, ceilings, and other structural components. The individual must have the ability to safely push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds using appropriate equipment. Additionally, the role requires the ability to collect data and effectively translate and communicate complex research findings as needed.
