Job description

Facilities Coordinator - Navy SEAL Museum San Diego Showcase

Tuesday – Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Fully On-Site)

About the Role

We are seeking an operational anchor who values service, respects the legacy of the Navy SEALs and Naval Special Warfare, and wants to bring their discipline to a mission-driven organization. As the Facilities Coordinator, you will ensure the Navy SEAL Museum San Diego Showcase is safe, well‑maintained, fully operational, and consistently ready to welcome guests. This is a hands‑on, \"daily doer\" position where you will own day‑to‑day facilities readiness, execute preventive maintenance, and serve as the primary on‑site liaison for specialized service providers, including our contracted audiovisual (AV) and exhibit‑technology teams.

What You Will Do

  • Daily Readiness: Take ownership of the daily condition of all public spaces, exhibits, and infrastructure, ensuring the museum is pristine and fully functional before doors open.

  • Preventative Maintenance: Execute maintenance schedules for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and building infrastructure; perform minor repairs and safely use standard tools.

  • Vendor Management: Serve as the on‑site liaison for janitorial, HVAC, and property management vendors; coordinate access, inspect work quality, and track work orders.

  • AV & Tech First‑Response: Act as the primary on‑site point of contact for our outsourced AV contractors. You will learn normal startup/shutdown procedures, perform basic functionality checks, and execute first‑level troubleshooting for immersive exhibits before escalating complex issues to the AV experts.

  • Safety & Compliance: Support emergency preparedness, maintain fire/life‑safety systems, and keep emergency routes clear in coordination with Museum leadership.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands‑on experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or a comparable technical environment (e.g., hospitality, military facilities, museums, or commercial property).

  • Technical Baseline: Practical understanding of primary building systems (basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and confidence interacting with AV systems or digital displays (advanced engineering expertise is not required).

  • Organization: Proven track record of coordinating external service providers, tracking maintenance tickets, and documenting facility priorities.

  • Drive: A strong desire to contribute to a mission‑driven organization with high standards of excellence and a calm, solutions‑oriented approach to unexpected issues.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Relevant trade school, vocational training, military technical ratings, or OSHA certifications are highly preferred.

Physical Requirements

Work includes indoor and outdoor activity, walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders, and safely handling tools and equipment. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
