Job summary

  • Hire, promote, discipline and evaluate departmental personnel per Bryan Health policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and Joint Commission standards.
  • Conduct regular rounds to assess the physical plant and grounds and address issues proactively.
  • Collaborate across Bryan Health facilities to implement best practices and support capital projects.

Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for the administration of all facilities' management functions including maintenance, engineering and grounds in accordance with established Bryan Health policies and procedures. Ensures the quality of facility management services for the Health System consisting of the East and West sites and other off‑site locations.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • *Plans, organizes, directs and controls the functions and 24-hour operations of the Bryan Medical Center (BMC) Facilities Management departments, including maintenance, engineering and grounds.
  • *Creates, revises and maintains BMC departmental policy and procedure manuals.
  • *Develops and maintains BMC departmental job descriptions.
  • *Prepares and manages the BMC department operating and capital budgets.
  • *Hires, promotes, disciplines and evaluates BMC departmental personnel; makes pay adjustments in accordance with Bryan Health policies.
  • *Manages BMC departmental activities to ensure compliance with applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, including Joint Commission standards.
  • *Makes rounds on a frequent and consistent basis in order to assess the condition of the physical plant and grounds; promotes a proactive approach in addressing problem areas.
  • *Maintains frequent contact with internal and external customers to ensure meeting customers' needs.
  • *Develops and fosters a collaborative environment for the Bryan Health facility departments. Provides guidance, oversight and assistance for major capital projects throughout the health system and reviews capital projects for the system to ensure accuracy and consistency in the system.
  • *Creates an environment of collaboration between the various entities of the health system to implement best practices for the various facility departments.
  • *Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise.
  • *Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.
  • *Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations related to facilities management.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, engineering, biomedical electronics and construction methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of the standards of the Joint Commission as they pertain to facilities management.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.
  • Knowledge of customer service philosophies and practices.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteer and ancillary departments, including diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to develop written policies and procedures, memoranda and performance evaluations with measurable behaviors.
  • Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and work as a team member.
  • Ability to schedule, direct, counsel and evaluate employee work and performance.
  • Ability to respond promptly to emergent or crisis situations.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify needs and priorities and implement effective work strategies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors of Science in Construction Management, engineering or related field required. Minimum of five (5) years facilities management experience required. Prior plant operation experience in a hospital environment of at least 150 beds required.
