The role emphasizes adherence to sanitation standards, safety, and timely reporting of issues, with responsibilities ranging from routine cleaning to assisting with minor repairs and equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; substitutions require competency test.

• Minimum 1 year of janitorial experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to resolve conflicts effectively and work with teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks as scheduled.
• Observe sanitation guidelines per OSHA and industry standards.
• Maintain lobby, waiting areas, and clinic spaces; report maintenance needs.
• Inspect and replace light bulbs; check thermostats and interior/exterior lights.
• Respond to emergency maintenance requests and safety concerns.
• Assist with general repairs and assist Facilities Lead as needed.

Primary Responsibilities

Standards of Operations

• Knowledge and understanding of Employee Handbook.
• Carry out the meaning of the CSMD Mission and Vision statements.
• Practice a culture of safety to reduce or prevent risk of injury, claims, loss or liability by utilizing the Risk Management and Infection Control Plan.
• Perform responsibilities with a high-quality standard to yield improved compliance, quality, and patient outcome measures by adhering to the Quality Improvement Plan.
• Be present and ready for work as scheduled.
• Attend in-service trainings, departmental meetings and community events.
• Work cohesively with team members.

General Cleaning and Maintenance

• Meets daily with supervisor to discuss special needs, problems, and assignments.
• Adheres to a sanitation and cleaning schedule checklist in accordance with OSHA and industry-specific guidelines.
• Performs all daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements, including but not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, cleaning wall and light fixtures/coverings, and inspection / replacement of light bulbs as needed, etc.
• Maintains lobby, waiting rooms and other clinic areas. Clean glass entry and reception areas of fingerprints, smudges, etc.
• Clean spills and/or accidents following proper protocol and guidelines.
• Reports maintenance needs to Facilities Lead and/or Director of Facilities.
• Regularly surveys facility, grounds, and equipment and report issues, as necessary.
• Maintains outside of facility by raking debris, cleaning sidewalks and keeping entry areas clear of trash and leaves, with close attention to safety during inclement weather conditions.
• Perform routine daily checks of thermostats, air/heat flow, interior and exterior lights for proper working conditions.
• Responds to overhead calls.

Other Duties

• Ensures the security of buildings through locks and security system at beginning and end of each business day.
• Keep Facilities Lead and Director of Facilities informed of any safety concerns.
• Responds to emergency problems if applicable to job functions.
• Maintain skill and safety level to operate numerical calculations, cleaning equipment, precision tools, and manual and finger dexterity.
• Performs other cleaning duties upon request of Facilities Lead and/or Director of Facilities or designee.
• Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, may be asked to deliver packages, supplies and/or documents to a site you are assigned to.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent OR four years of high school AND two years of related work experience OR three years of high school AND four years of related work experience OR two years of high school AND five years of related work experience with an established business organization.
• For substitutions, the candidate must be able to pass a competency-based skills and comprehension test.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of janitorial experience in a healthcare setting; preferably.
• Must be able to effectively resolve conflicts.
• Performs all job responsibilities in full compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
